Make something of your saves

A saved link is not a backup: keep your references usable

A saved link points back to its original source; it is not automatically a downloaded or permanent copy. If a post disappears or becomes private, that link may stop opening. Keep an accessible source beside important social finds and verify any backup feature separately.

The short version

Check access before relying on a save

  1. Open the saved URL and confirm that it reaches the intended source.
  2. Check that the person you share with can open it too.
  3. Add an accessible official page for practical details where available.
  4. If you need an offline or permanent copy, verify a preservation workflow separately.

What saving the URL does

A collection helps you return to a source and remember why it mattered. It does not give you new access rights or guarantee the original page will remain online. A preview that once loaded does not prove the full source is still available.

SocialBoard keeps mixed-source links and your own media in searchable, shareable collections. This link-saving workflow does not promise permanent web copies, offline video access or automatic preservation of every linked page.

When a source no longer opens

Open the original link in its source app or browser. Check whether you are signed in to the right account, whether the post is private, and whether the creator has removed it. A friend may have different source-platform access from yours.

For a venue, product or recipe, look for an accessible official page and add that reference beside the social post. Keep your own relevant photos or notes where appropriate so the reason for saving the item remains clear.

When you need preservation rather than a bookmark

Choose a tool and workflow that explicitly provides the kind of copy you need, then test the result. For example, Raindrop.io lists permanent copies as a Pro feature. That is a different promise from merely saving a link.

Check what was preserved and whether it is readable before relying on it. A web-page copy, a media file and an original private social post can have different access requirements.

Pros and cons of a source collection

For a restaurant shortlist, save the reel and the restaurant’s official menu page together. The reel explains the appeal; the official site is where you verify hours, reservations and the current menu.
